I immediately went back to my home country. I heard due to the ongoing Amnesty program and the high amount of visa applications, immigration officers are issuing refusals left and right. Would it be better for me to reapply for a new visa this month or wait until january by the time things cool off?

honestly waiting till january is prob your best bet. the amnesty program is running till oct 31 but the backlog from it is gonna take a while to clear. i know a guy who did the same oman run and got stuck at the airport in muscat for two days before flying home

fwiw if you do reapply earlier look into getting a 5 year multi entry visa instead of doing the visa run thing. costs around 3000 aed upfront but saves you from this whole song and dance. the immigration folks at al manama center told me theyre prioritizing those applications over regular visit visas rn

The amnesty program is causing a backlog. Waiting until January might be wiser. The sheer volume of applications right now means even legitimate applications face a higher chance of rejection. Think of it like trying to get a table at a popular restaurant during peak hours, you'll have better luck showing up later.

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
