Renting with a cancelled residency?
fwiw the friend thing gets real messy real quick. dewa and ejari will be in their name, which means they're legally responsible if you skip rent or trash the place. also if they ever leave the country and cancel their dewa, you're screwed with no notice. better to just be honest with the landlord and show them the new visa application receipt from typing center. some landlords will accept that with a bigger security deposit, like 5k instead of the usual 2k. worst case ask your new company's PRO if they can rush the medical and stamping, sometimes they can get it done in 3-4 working days if you pay a bit extra
honestly this happens all the time in dubai. your new employer can issue a temporary 6-month residency visa while the main one processes, just ask them. the landlord might accept that if you show the entry permit or the stamped application. having a friend sign is messy because ejari ties the lease to their emirates id, so yes their name goes on dewa and cheque. if the landlord says no, offer to pay 3 months upfront as a security buffer, some will take it.

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl
The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
