Do you have any tips? πŸ€” Also I'm not sure, what can I bring to Dubai regarding clothes and electronics? I'm not LGBT affiliated so I should be fine with the clothes but just asking. Thank you!

tbh the biggest thing nobody mentions is the Friday prayer timing, things shut down for a bit around noon to 1:30pm, so don't plan a tight lunch meeting then. also the tap water is technically safe but tastes like a swimming pool, just buy bottled, it's cheap. for electronics, bring a power bank, you'll be glued to your phone for maps and ride apps, and the desert sun drains it fast. and if you're near the creek, take the abra at sunset, the skyline from the water is way better than any observation deck.

yeah the AC thing is real, it's like they crank it to arctic everywhere. honestly for clothes just bring layers, a hoodie or light jacket will save u. also fyi the weekend is fri and sat, so your work days might be sun to thurs, adjust your plans around that. and if u get a chance, check out the old creak area and take an abra boat across for like 1 dirham, way cooler than any mall imo.

If you're here for work, you'll probably be spending time in the business districts like DIFC or Downtown. The vibe there is very international, so nobody bats an eye at Western business attire, but keep a blazer or cardigan handy for meetings, the AC is brutal everywhere, not just malls. For electronics, you're fine, just note that some US devices with a 110V rating will need a converter, not just a plug adapter, so check your chargers before you pack. On the religious side, you'll be fine as long as you're not walking through Deira or Bur Dubai in a tank top, but honestly, nobody's policing you. One tip people miss: download the RTA app for taxis and the metro, but also use the Careem app for ride-hailing, it's sometimes cheaper than a cab and you can pay by card. And if your work schedule allows, avoid the Dubai Mall on weekends, it's a zoo, try City Walk or Mall of the Emirates for a less chaotic coffee meeting.

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
