Where to buy film cameras?

Does anyone know of any good vintage or second hand stores where I could browse vintage film cameras? Looking to pick up a camera or two for some retro film shooting.

Also if someone can recommend so…

ngl the best film camera score i got was from a random stall in the gold souq extension, the little alleyway behind the main gold market. this old iranian guy runs a booth selling old watches and coins but he's got a cardboard box under his table full of cameras, found a working contax t2 for 200 dirhams because he thought it was broken (just needed a new battery)

for development i'd actually recommend avoiding the touristy spots and going to al quoz industrial area, there's a place called al rayan printing press that does film scanning as a side hustle. they're a regular print shop but the owner's son is a photography student so he runs their film service. 20 dirhams for high res scans and they actually do dust removal unlike most labs here, turnaround is like 4 hours if you drop it before 2pm

honestly if you're in Dubai Marina or JLT, check out the charity shops in The Greens community center. there's one near the spinneys that always has a box of old cameras, mostly point-and-shoots from the 90s but I've spotted a couple of Minoltas and even a beaten-up Rolleicord once. prices are like 20-50 dirhams, no one there knows what they have.

for film, I'd skip the big malls and hit up Al Karama. there's a tiny shop called Al Hilal Electronics near the Karama post office, they keep a small stash of Fuji Superia and Kodak Gold behind the counter. they develop too but it takes a week and they'll prob lose your negatives once. still costs like 15 dirhams a roll so can't complain.

For browsing vintage film cameras, Al Ghurair Centre in Deira has a few electronics shops on the upper floors that sometimes have old film bodies in glass cases. You'll want to haggle there. For buying and developing film, Gulf Photo Plus in Al Quoz is your best bet. They stock fresh rolls of Portra and Tri-X, and their lab does a solid job with C-41 processing. It's on the pricier side compared to doing it yourself, but consistent.

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
