Visa agency says they will only take fee if the visa gets approved or else they wont charge anything. Is this normal, how do i trust them?

The title says it all :) The title says it all :)

The key thing to watch is whether they're asking you to pay the government fee upfront through the ICP portal or handing it over to them directly. If they want you to transfer the full amount to their account, that's a red flag even with the "no visa no fee" promise. Real agencies in places like Al Karama or Al Qusais will have you make the government payment yourself online, and they only collect their service charge after approval, usually 100-200 AED for a visit visa. Also try searching their company name on the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation website for a labor supply license if they're handling employment visas, that's another layer of verification most people skip.

honestly that's pretty standard for legit agencies here in Dubai. most of the reputable ones work on a no visa no fee basis because they know the approval rates are high for genuine applicants

just check they're registered with the dnata or amer service centers - those are the official government authorized channels. if they're not on those lists I'd steer clear even with the no fee promise

also ask for their trade license number and you can verify it on the dubai economy website. takes 2 minutes and saves you from getting scammed

A lot of agencies in Al Fahidi or near the Burjuman area run this model and it's fine as long as you're clear on what you're paying for. The government fee through ICP is roughly 350 to 500 AED depending on the visa type and that's gone whether you get approved or not, so ask them outright if they expect you to pay that upfront or if they handle it. Also check if they have a physical counter at the typing centers near Al Musalla Road, those tend to be more reliable than the ones operating out of a shared office in a tower. If they dodge your questions about the ICP payment process, walk away.

Dubai/Sharjah Road Scam?

I helped a guy stranded on the ring road, gave him a ride to Ras Al Khaima after he claimed to have lost his wallet. Turns out he was fine, just jumped out and vanished. Did I get played? damn u basically did a free taxi run to rak. thing is they usually target cars with a single guy driving & look for dubai plates so u look like u got somewhere to be. best move is roll ur window down like two inches, say u already called the cops for them & keep moving, dont even unlock the door

yeah that's a known one on e311 & the sharjah ring road, usually they wave you down near the adnoc or before the rta cameras claiming wallet got lifted. classic play is they ask for a lift to the next emirate then bail once you slow down, sometimes a second guy on a bike is tracking you. next time just call 999 or drop them at the nearest police point, don't let anyone in your car off the highway ngl

The RAK route is the tell. No one genuinely stranded on the ring road needs to get all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, that's a 90 minute drive. These guys work in pairs and the second car picks them up after they hop out, usually somewhere past the Al Sajaa junction or near the ADNOC on E311. If it happens again, tell them you'll drive them to the nearest police station and watch how fast the story changes.
