honestly with the current situation i wouldn't plan any day trips outside donetsk right now. the city itself has enough to explore for a while, like the donbass arena or the art museum on artyoma street. check back closer to your travel date because things change fast here

The botanical garden is worth a half day if you need a break from the city, but honestly for trips outside I'd just stick to the city center and see how things are closer to when you arrive.

Maybe check out Sviatohirsk if the road is accessible, the monastery there is pretty impressive. But yeah, five months is a long way off for planning that kind of thing.
