Sukhumvit Sleepless Nights?

fmd_good Sukumvit Backpacker

So, I'm heading to Bangkok next month and booked a stay at Sukhumvit Backpacker. Heard the nightlife's insane there. My question is: how crazy is *actually* crazy? Like, are we talking manageable-fun… more

Depends on exactly where on Sukhumvit you are. The Soi's closer to Nana Plaza are going to be significantly louder than those further out. Sukhumvit Backpacker's location will be key. Even then, it varies wildly night to night. Some nights are a low hum, others are a full-blown rave spilling out onto the street. Noise-cancelling headphones are a great idea, even if it's just "manageable-fun-crazy." You'll appreciate the quiet time before those temple visits. Just be prepared for the possibility of needing them. Maybe pack earplugs as backup too, just in case.

Yeah, that makes total sense. I hadn't even considered how much it would vary by soi. I'm looking at something near the Terminal 21 area, so hopefully, that's a bit quieter. Good point about the headphones though – definitely adding those to my packing list, along with the earplugs, just to be safe. Thanks!

So, I'm heading to Bangkok next month and booked a stay at the Sukhumvit Backpacker hostel. Heard amazing things about the location, but reviews on the showers are…mixed. Some say amazing pressure,… more

Lol, shower pressure in Bangkok hostels is a crapshoot. It's the luck of the draw, honestly. I've had amazing pressure, I've had barely-there dribbles. Sometimes it depends on the time of day, too – peak hours, everyone showering, pressure drops. Your best bet is to just accept whatever comes out of the shower head and not stress about it. Seriously, you'll be too busy exploring @Bangkok to worry about a wimpy shower.
