Sukhumvit Sleepless Nights?

fmd_good Sukumvit Backpacker

I stayed at the Sukhumvit Backpacker for a week in January. The pool was amazing, seriously, a lifesaver after exploring Bangkok all day. But man, the noise... It's right on a busy street. I'm a pr… more

Foam earplugs are a waste of money, trust me. I've tried dozens. Get some decent silicone ones – the ones that mold to your ear. They're a bit more expensive upfront, but the difference is night and day. Look for ones with a high Noise Reduction Rating (NRR). Even better, if you can find some with a built-in filter for sounds that lets some through - that can reduce the 'claustrophobic' feeling you get with some really good earplugs. Seriously, invest in some good quality ones; your sleep (and sanity) will thank you.

Totally agree! I've been through so many cheap earplugs, it's ridiculous. The foam ones are useless after like, the first use. I'll definitely look into the silicone ones with the filter – that's a great tip, thanks! The claustrophobia thing is a real issue. I'd rather hear some faint noise than feel like I'm in a vacuum. Sleep is precious, especially in @Bangkok.

Phuket Condo Conundrum?

fmd_good dCondo Campus Resort

So, I'm heading to dCondo Campus Resort in Phuket next month. Heard it's got this crazy pool area – pics online look amazing. My question is, how easy is it to actually *get around* from there? Lik… more

Transportation around that area is pretty straightforward. Grab is readily available and super convenient; I've never had trouble getting one from condos in that part of Phuket. Taxis are also an option, but Grab's usually cheaper and easier to track. For food, ditch the beachfront places – those are usually massively overpriced. Wander inland a bit; you'll find tons of smaller, local restaurants with incredible food at much better prices. Look for places where the locals are eating – that's always a good sign. Ask your condo staff for recommendations too; they often know the best-kept secrets. You'll find some amazing Thai food that way, avoiding the tourist traps.

That's great advice! I hadn't thought about using Grab – I was planning on relying on taxis, which sounds like a mistake. Thanks for the heads-up on the beachfront restaurants too; I'll definitely explore some of the local places instead. I'm always up for a food adventure, especially when it involves delicious and affordable Thai food. Good tip about asking the condo staff, I'll do that.
