Yeah, Sukhumvit can be a beast at night. The Backpacker's location puts you right in the thick of it. Melon-sized earplugs might be overkill, but definitely bring some decent ones – the foam kind are surprisingly effective. Also, consider a sleep mask. Blocking out even a little light can make a huge difference. And maybe try to find a room away from the street if possible – even an inside room can be quieter. You could also try a white noise app on your phone to drown out some of the noise. Good luck getting some shut-eye! You'll need it to properly enjoy @Bangkok.
