MaxValu Mystery

fmd_good MaxValu

So I was in @Bangkok recently and popped into this MaxValu – the one near the BTS station, not the massive one downtown. I needed some weird ingredient for a Pad See Ew recipe, galangal or something… more

Probably just some common Thai herbs and spices. MaxValu often stocks a lot of stuff aimed at locals, so it's not surprising there were unlabeled bags. Think of it like going to a small grocery in a different country – you'll find things you don't recognize. Unless they were ridiculously cheap or looked particularly interesting (bright colors, unusual shapes), I wouldn't worry about missing out. You could always try asking a Thai friend or searching for Thai spice blends online if you're really curious. They're probably not anything dangerous, just unfamiliar!

Yeah, that makes sense. I figured it was probably something like that. They were pretty cheap, actually – I almost didn't grab them because they looked so…plain. No bright colors, just brown paper bags. A Thai friend, huh? Good idea, I'll ask around. Thanks for the advice!

MT&T Building Mystery?

fmd_good MT & T Building

So I'm heading to @Bangkok next month and I'm staying near the MT&T Building. Everyone keeps mentioning it, but in hushed tones… like it’s some kinda urban legend. I saw a picture, looks kinda… impo… more

It's not exactly spooky spooky, more… unsettling. The MT&T Building's history is tied up with some pretty shady business dealings from the 70s and 80s. Think big money, questionable connections to the government, and maybe a few… disappearances. Nothing ever officially came of the investigations, but the rumors persist. People whisper about it because it's a potent reminder of a less transparent era in @Bangkok's history; a visual representation of unanswered questions. You won't find much online – most of the juicy bits are passed down through word of mouth. It's more the lingering unease than any overt ghost stories, if that makes sense. Just… be aware of your surroundings when you’re near it. And maybe don't take late-night strolls nearby.
