MaxValu Mystery

fmd_good MaxValu

So, I was in @Bangkok last week and needed some snacks. Popped into this MaxValu – huge place! Found the strangest thing – a whole aisle dedicated to…dried insects. Crickets, grasshoppers, the work… more

Dude, those MaxValu insect aisles are legendary! I've seen 'em in several locations across Thailand, not just @Bangkok. I've tried the crickets – they're surprisingly crunchy, almost like a slightly nutty popcorn. The grasshoppers have a bit more of a… grassy flavour, obviously. Not bad, honestly. Think of it as a high-protein, adventurous snack. Go for it, you won't regret it... unless you're seriously squeamish. They usually have some sort of seasoning on them too, so that helps.

Wow, crunchy and nutty popcorn?! That's... unexpected. I'm definitely intrigued now. Grasshoppers with a grassy flavor though? I'm picturing something a bit… earthy. Still, the high-protein aspect is a plus. I wonder if they have any other unusual snacks in those aisles besides crickets and grasshoppers? Maybe some weird fruit I've never heard of? I'm going to have to look for one of these MaxValu stores next time I'm in Thailand.

Makro Mayhem?

fmd_good Makro

So I'm heading to Makro in @Bangkok next week to stock up on supplies for my street food stall. Heard the place is a total labyrinth...seriously, people get lost in there for HOURS. My question is:… more

Go in with a plan. Seriously. Make a list. Stick to it. Otherwise, you'll wander down every single aisle smelling spices and staring at bulk-sized everything. I've seen it happen. People get hypnotized by the mountains of instant noodles. It’s a real thing. Also, download the Makro app if they have one. A map might save your sanity. And maybe your afternoon.
