Si Phraya's Secret?

fmd_good Si Phraya Rd

I'm heading to @Bangkok next month and plan on spending a day exploring Si Phraya Road. I've read it's got a cool mix of old shophouses and modern stuff. My question is: what's the best way to really… more

Wander down the side streets branching off Si Phraya. The main drag is busy, sure, but the real character's a few steps away. Look for the little sois (alleys) – you'll find amazing food stalls tucked away, often with only a few plastic chairs and a handwritten menu. Don't be afraid to just stop and look; the best finds are often the ones that don't scream for attention. Also, keep an eye out for small workshops – maybe someone crafting traditional silverware or making hand-painted textiles. You might even find an old wat (temple) hiding amongst the buildings, offering a moment of quiet amidst the hustle. Early morning or late afternoon light is best for photography – the shadows make everything look more interesting. Just get lost a bit, that's half the fun.

fmd_good Tops

Bangkok is weird, man. I've seen some stuff. A gorilla in Tops? Sounds about right. Maybe it was a flash mob thing? Or maybe someone just really, really likes pineapples and durian and decided to go full-on ape about it. I'd lean towards the latter, tbh. You're not alone in your strangeness experiences in this city. Let's just say I've seen things you people wouldn't believe... walking on four legs, picking up mangoes.

Seriously? A gorilla?! I thought I was losing it. Mangoes, huh? That's...specific. I saw what I thought was a gorilla, but maybe I hallucinated the whole thing from the durian heat. Or maybe there's a whole primate underground scene in @Bangkok I don't know about. I mean, I saw a guy wearing a full-body banana costume riding a tuk-tuk once...so...anything is possible, I guess.
