Sivalai Secrets?

fmd_good Sivalai Place

I stayed at Sivalai Place last month – gorgeous hotel, seriously. But the pool bar...it was practically deserted every night. I mean, beautiful setting, amazing cocktails, but nobody there. Is it j… more

Probably just bad luck with timing. High season in @Bangkok is crazy busy, but things can be surprisingly quiet at other times. Pool bars, especially swanky ones, can be hit-or-miss depending on the night and the vibe. Maybe everyone was at a rooftop bar that night, or a killer club. There's no secret society keeping people away, I'm sure. It's @Bangkok – there's always something going on somewhere else. Don't sweat it; the hotel itself is the main event.

Bangkok's Best Kept Secret?

fmd_good Mandarin Oriental Hotel

I'm heading to the Mandarin Oriental next month for a long overdue solo trip. I've heard amazing things, especially about their rooftop bar. But I'm curious, what's the best way to experience the ho… more

Skip the rooftop bar entirely on your first night. Head down to the Authors' Lounge instead. It’s quieter, more intimate, and steeped in history. Order a classic cocktail – something they’ve been making there for decades – and just soak it all in. The atmosphere is incredible, and you’ll feel the weight of all those years of stories. Then, wander the hotel grounds. It's not just a hotel, it’s a sprawling complex with amazing architecture and hidden little courtyards. Find a quiet spot by the river and just watch the boats go by. That's how you'll really feel the place, not just see it. Don't be afraid to get lost; that's where the magic happens. Seriously, the best way to not feel like a tourist is to slow down, lose the itinerary, and let the place work its magic on you.
