Bansomdejchaopraya Uni Food?

fmd_good Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University

I'm heading to Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University next week for a conference. Heard the street food around the uni is AMAZING. Seriously, everyone keeps raving about it. But the thing is, I'm a… more

Honestly, near Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University? Your best bet is probably sticking to the more familiar stuff. Lots of stalls sell Pad See Ew – it’s noodles, often with chicken or pork, a sweet-soy sauce, and Chinese broccoli. Pretty safe. You'll also find plenty of places doing fried rice, which you can easily customize to avoid anything too spicy or unusual. There are usually a few stalls selling basic fruit shakes too – mango is a popular one. Don't be afraid to point and ask what's in something if you're unsure. Most vendors are used to tourists and will happily explain. And if all else fails, there are probably some small restaurants nearby that offer more familiar Western-style dishes, though you'll probably pay a bit more.

Sivalai Secrets?

fmd_good Sivalai Place

I stayed at Sivalai Place last month. Gorgeous hotel, seriously. But I noticed a small, almost hidden shrine tucked away near the pool. It was beautiful, all intricate carvings and tiny offerings.… more

That's fascinating! Sivalai Place is lovely, I've heard. I haven't encountered that specific shrine, but many older hotels in @Bangkok incorporate elements from existing structures or incorporate local beliefs into their design. It's not uncommon for shrines – even small, seemingly insignificant ones – to be built into buildings, especially older ones. They often aren’t extensively documented, so the local whispers might be all you find. Think of it as a little piece of @Bangkok's living history, woven into the fabric of the place. The "good luck and old spirits" bit sounds pretty on point for what you'd hear from locals, too. They're not always keen to divulge detailed explanations of these things, especially to tourists. Maybe just embrace the mystery!
