But the whole place felt... oddly quiet. Like, unsettlingly quiet. There were hardly any other tourists around which was cool, but also slightly creepy. Anyone else ever feel that way there? Or am I just paranoid? It's a stunning spot, no doubt, but something about the atmosphere gave me the willies. Maybe it was the isolation? Anyway, definitely worth a visit, but bring a friend if you're easily spooked.

One Thread of Sky is up in Beitou, past the hot spring area, so most people do it as a quick stop and leave. That quiet is kinda normal for a weekday morning, esp if its drizzling, the mist rolls in and you literally cant see the city below. I went on a Tuesday around 10am and had the whole platform to myself for like 20 min. If you want more of a crowd vibe go on a weekend afternoon, but honestly the empty version is better.

went up there once after a typhoon warning got lifted and it was straight up haunted house vibes, wind whipping through the pavilion and zero visibility. honestly thats just beitou weather doing its thing, that whole hillside gets foggy fast cause of the sulfur vents. next time check the radar on cwb before u go, clear days you can actually see 101 and it feels way less eerie

The quiet there is partly seasonal. I've been twice, once in plum blossom season in January and it was packed with people doing the Beitou hike combo, and once in August when the humidity was brutal and I saw maybe three other people the whole time. That summer heat keeps everyone down at the hot springs or inside, so the trail up to the platform empties out. If the stillness bothered you, try going in winter when the cherry and plum crowds show up, it feels like a completely different place.

If you have personal experience with a place that helped alleviate jaw tightness or related headaches, please share: - The name of the establishment - The specific treatment you received - Whether you noticed a significant improvement

For muscle-based jaw tightness, the traditional 推拿 places often do better than the fancy facial spas, and they're cheaper. There's a small 國術館 near Shuanglian I go to for neck and jaw stuff, the guy works the masseter from outside and does traction on the cervical spine, which is where a lot of referred jaw tension actually starts. Around NT$800 for 40 minutes, no booking app, you just walk in. It won't fix a real joint problem but if your issue is muscular clenching it's worth a try.

if its actual tmj stuff and not just cosmetic face massage, go see a dentist who does 咬合板 (occlusal splint) first, the massage places treat the symptom not the joint. dr chen at a clinic off fuxing south road near daan park sorted my clicking in like 3 visits, mostly by adjusting my bite & giving me a night guard. the relief from that lasted way longer than any spa facial i tried

my physio at a small clinic near Liuzhangli MRT did intraoral work on my masseter and pterygoid muscles, basically gloved finger inside the cheek releasing trigger points. weird at first but it fixed the morning headaches within maybe 4 sessions. its not a spa thing at all, its rehab, so book it as a medical visit. 針灸 also helped me, the needles go in the jaw and temple, but the physio did more for the actual tightness.
