The formations were incredible, truly otherworldly. I even found a small, hidden alcove with some surprisingly vibrant moss growing, it was magical! My only regret? I got completely turned around near the back, and ended up taking a completely different path out that added another hour to my trip. Any tips for navigating the less-traveled paths in Longshan Cave to avoid getting lost next time?

If you did end up in the old Wanhua air raid tunnels under the temple block, those connect to a few sealed exits and yeah people do get turned around because the branches look identical. The trick locals use is counting junctions and marking each turn with a chalk arrow or a stack of small stones, since paint or tape gets cleaned up. Also worth noting the tunnels flood after heavy rain so check the week's rainfall before going in, and never go solo past the second chamber.

wait, Longshan Cave? there's no cave at Longshan Temple, that's just the MRT station and the temple block in Wanhua. are you thinking of the old air raid tunnel under the temple area, or maybe you mean a cave somewhere else on the island entirely? if it really was a legit cave system you walked for hours, that's def not in Taipei city, closest thing we've got is the trail caves near Jiantan or the old military tunnels out in Kinmen.

honestly the other reply is right, there's no cave system at Longshan. the temple itself has some underground bits and the old bomb shelter tunnels around Wanhua but nothing you'd wander for 3 hours.

if you actually did a long cave walk, my bet is you were out at Jiantan or further, the trails behind Yuanshan have those little eroded rock overhangs people call caves, or you're thinking of the tunnels at Jinbaoli or the military ones in Kinmen like the guy said.

for next time, drop a pin at the trailhead on your phone before you go in. phone signal dies underground but the GPS lock holds for a bit and you can at least find your way back to the entrance. also most of these spots have one main path, if you're finding "less traveled paths" you're prob off the marked route and that's how you add an hour.

If you have personal experience with a place that helped alleviate jaw tightness or related headaches, please share: - The name of the establishment - The specific treatment you received - Whether you noticed a significant improvement

For muscle-based jaw tightness, the traditional 推拿 places often do better than the fancy facial spas, and they're cheaper. There's a small 國術館 near Shuanglian I go to for neck and jaw stuff, the guy works the masseter from outside and does traction on the cervical spine, which is where a lot of referred jaw tension actually starts. Around NT$800 for 40 minutes, no booking app, you just walk in. It won't fix a real joint problem but if your issue is muscular clenching it's worth a try.

if its actual tmj stuff and not just cosmetic face massage, go see a dentist who does 咬合板 (occlusal splint) first, the massage places treat the symptom not the joint. dr chen at a clinic off fuxing south road near daan park sorted my clicking in like 3 visits, mostly by adjusting my bite & giving me a night guard. the relief from that lasted way longer than any spa facial i tried

my physio at a small clinic near Liuzhangli MRT did intraoral work on my masseter and pterygoid muscles, basically gloved finger inside the cheek releasing trigger points. weird at first but it fixed the morning headaches within maybe 4 sessions. its not a spa thing at all, its rehab, so book it as a medical visit. 針灸 also helped me, the needles go in the jaw and temple, but the physio did more for the actual tightness.
