Everyone says it's less touristy than Shilin, which is cool, but I've heard whispers... rumors... about a hidden stall selling extremely spicy stinky tofu. Not the usual kind, apparently, this stuff is legendary among locals. The problem? Nobody can seem to agree on exactly where this stall is. It's always "around the corner" or "near the fortune teller". So, my question is: Has anyone actually found this mythical spicy stinky tofu stall and can you give me precise directions, or is it just an urban legend?!

the second reply is right about the guy with the red "la" sign. i actually found him two weeks ago, he's not on the main songshou rd strip anymore. go to the alley behind the 7-11 on linsen north road, but don't take the first entrance. walk past the fried milk cart and take the second gap between the stalls, he's set up right next to a cart selling grilled squid. the auntie there will point you if he's not visible. bring cash, it's 120 ntd for a bowl and you'll want a cold drink nearby cause the numbness is no joke

honestly i think it's real but the location shifts around a bit. the stall's owner used to be parked near the old fortune teller spot on songshou road itself but he moved a few months back when they redid the lane layout. last i saw him he was tucked between the fried milk cart and the oyster omelette place on the smaller alley behind the 7-11 on linsen north road. it's a tiny cart with a red sign that just says "la" in chinese. the tofu's got this insane level of mala that numbs your whole mouth for like ten minutes. if you don't find him there ask the auntie selling grilled squid she usually knows where he's at that night

Yeah, the spicy stinky tofu legend is real. It's less a specific stall and more... a vibe. Think of it like a ghost, you know it's somewhere around, but pinning it down is impossible. I've been to Songshou Road a dozen times, always sniffing the air, always hopeful. Closest I got was a stall with moderately spicy stinky tofu near that little arcade with the claw machines; still pretty good, though. Forget precise directions, embrace the hunt! The thrill of the chase is half the fun. And if you find it... let me know!

If you have personal experience with a place that helped alleviate jaw tightness or related headaches, please share: - The name of the establishment - The specific treatment you received - Whether you noticed a significant improvement

For muscle-based jaw tightness, the traditional 推拿 places often do better than the fancy facial spas, and they're cheaper. There's a small 國術館 near Shuanglian I go to for neck and jaw stuff, the guy works the masseter from outside and does traction on the cervical spine, which is where a lot of referred jaw tension actually starts. Around NT$800 for 40 minutes, no booking app, you just walk in. It won't fix a real joint problem but if your issue is muscular clenching it's worth a try.

if its actual tmj stuff and not just cosmetic face massage, go see a dentist who does 咬合板 (occlusal splint) first, the massage places treat the symptom not the joint. dr chen at a clinic off fuxing south road near daan park sorted my clicking in like 3 visits, mostly by adjusting my bite & giving me a night guard. the relief from that lasted way longer than any spa facial i tried

my physio at a small clinic near Liuzhangli MRT did intraoral work on my masseter and pterygoid muscles, basically gloved finger inside the cheek releasing trigger points. weird at first but it fixed the morning headaches within maybe 4 sessions. its not a spa thing at all, its rehab, so book it as a medical visit. 針灸 also helped me, the needles go in the jaw and temple, but the physio did more for the actual tightness.
