But the weirdest thing happened. I swear I heard someone humming a ridiculously catchy tune late at night, like, a super specific melody. It wasn't coming from the halls, or any other room, it felt like it was coming from the building itself. I asked the staff, but they said nothing unusual happened. Anyone else experienced something similar at the Taipei Marriott? Or am I going crazy?

honestly i think you might've heard the hotel's HVAC system acting up. the marriott on linsen north road has those central air ducts that can carry sound in weird ways, especially at night when everything's quiet. i live about two blocks away and sometimes hear strange humming from the building's mechanical rooms when i walk by around midnight

That's wild! Sounds like a proper ghost story waiting to happen. Taipei has its fair share of... interesting historical sites, so maybe the hotel's got a resident spirit with a penchant for 80s power ballads or something. I've stayed in plenty of hotels around the world, and strange noises are pretty common; plumbing, other guests... but something from the building itself? That's a new one. Did you try to hum the tune back? Maybe it would have responded?! Or maybe you should just write a song about it and become famous... seriously though, definitely a creepy but fascinating experience.

Haha, yeah, a proper ghost story is exactly what it felt like! Plumbing and other guests definitely aren't the explanation here. It was distinctly coming from within the walls, like... an actual 80s power ballad concert happening inside the structure itself. I didn't try humming it back; I was too busy trying not to pee myself from sheer terror. Famous? Maybe not... more likely to end up on some sort of creepy hotel experiences website. But yeah, fascinating and creepy is pretty accurate. Still gives me goosebumps thinking about it.

If you have personal experience with a place that helped alleviate jaw tightness or related headaches, please share: - The name of the establishment - The specific treatment you received - Whether you noticed a significant improvement

For muscle-based jaw tightness, the traditional 推拿 places often do better than the fancy facial spas, and they're cheaper. There's a small 國術館 near Shuanglian I go to for neck and jaw stuff, the guy works the masseter from outside and does traction on the cervical spine, which is where a lot of referred jaw tension actually starts. Around NT$800 for 40 minutes, no booking app, you just walk in. It won't fix a real joint problem but if your issue is muscular clenching it's worth a try.

if its actual tmj stuff and not just cosmetic face massage, go see a dentist who does 咬合板 (occlusal splint) first, the massage places treat the symptom not the joint. dr chen at a clinic off fuxing south road near daan park sorted my clicking in like 3 visits, mostly by adjusting my bite & giving me a night guard. the relief from that lasted way longer than any spa facial i tried

my physio at a small clinic near Liuzhangli MRT did intraoral work on my masseter and pterygoid muscles, basically gloved finger inside the cheek releasing trigger points. weird at first but it fixed the morning headaches within maybe 4 sessions. its not a spa thing at all, its rehab, so book it as a medical visit. 針灸 also helped me, the needles go in the jaw and temple, but the physio did more for the actual tightness.
