The views were incredible, seriously breathtaking. But I got completely lost on the way down, the trails aren't super well-marked, and my phone died halfway through. I ended up stumbling onto some kind of hidden temple...which was pretty cool, but also added about two hours to my trek. Anyone else had a similar experience? What's the best way to navigate the mountain paths without getting hopelessly turned around?

if you're coming down the back way, the trick is to follow the drainage ditch that runs beside the trail, it eventually dumps you out near the Fuzhoushan trailhead on Lane 151, Wuxing St. most people miss it cause it looks like a dead end. also grab the offline map on Hikingbook before you go, works without signal and has the Tudigong shrines marked. phone dying is the real issue tho, bring a power bank next time.

tbh the trails on Jiuwushan are fine if you go up from the Zhongyong trailhead near Fengtian Temple, but coming down the back side toward Songshan is where everyone gets turned around. those "hidden temples" you found are prob the little Tudigong shrines, there are a few scattered up there. next time just take a photo of the trail map board at the trailhead before you start, way easier than relying on your phone

yeah the back side is sneaky, but honestly the easiest fix is just going up the same way u came down. sounds boring but jiuwushan isnt that big, loop routes are what get ppl lost. also bring a headlamp even for a day hike, saved me when i got caught out past sunset near the ridge

If you have personal experience with a place that helped alleviate jaw tightness or related headaches, please share: - The name of the establishment - The specific treatment you received - Whether you noticed a significant improvement

For muscle-based jaw tightness, the traditional 推拿 places often do better than the fancy facial spas, and they're cheaper. There's a small 國術館 near Shuanglian I go to for neck and jaw stuff, the guy works the masseter from outside and does traction on the cervical spine, which is where a lot of referred jaw tension actually starts. Around NT$800 for 40 minutes, no booking app, you just walk in. It won't fix a real joint problem but if your issue is muscular clenching it's worth a try.

if its actual tmj stuff and not just cosmetic face massage, go see a dentist who does 咬合板 (occlusal splint) first, the massage places treat the symptom not the joint. dr chen at a clinic off fuxing south road near daan park sorted my clicking in like 3 visits, mostly by adjusting my bite & giving me a night guard. the relief from that lasted way longer than any spa facial i tried

my physio at a small clinic near Liuzhangli MRT did intraoral work on my masseter and pterygoid muscles, basically gloved finger inside the cheek releasing trigger points. weird at first but it fixed the morning headaches within maybe 4 sessions. its not a spa thing at all, its rehab, so book it as a medical visit. 針灸 also helped me, the needles go in the jaw and temple, but the physio did more for the actual tightness.
