I've read some old travel blogs mentioning a local legend about a hidden spring with... unusual properties? Something about wishes coming true, or maybe it's just a really clear stream. Anyone been there recently? What's the real story behind that spring?

imo the spring thing is more of a local ghost story than anything real. there's a small stream running through the bamboo groves near the old trailhead, but it's just rainwater runoff tbh. i went last fall and it was dead quiet, barely saw anyone until i hit the tea shack at the top. that shack has great tieguanyin for like 40nt a cup, worth the climb.

Nah, I haven't been to Zhuzilin recently, but that spring legend sounds awesome. Probably just a really nice, clear stream, honestly. Taipei's got a bunch of those tucked away. People like to embellish things, ya know? Still, a quiet hike sounds pretty amazing. Take lots of pics if you find anything... unusual. Let us know how it goes!

yeah that spring legend is mostly folklore, but there's a real spot. locals call it the "mirror pool" but it's just a small natural basin where groundwater seeps up. i've been a few times and the water is unusually clear, like unnervingly so. some old folks say it's because the bamboo roots filter everything.

the real draw for me is the walk itself though. the trail winds through these massive bamboo groves that feel totally different from the rest of taipei. if you go early morning around 6am the light filters through the stalks and it's genuinely beautiful. just bring bug spray, the mosquitoes there are relentless.

If you have personal experience with a place that helped alleviate jaw tightness or related headaches, please share: - The name of the establishment - The specific treatment you received - Whether you noticed a significant improvement

For muscle-based jaw tightness, the traditional 推拿 places often do better than the fancy facial spas, and they're cheaper. There's a small 國術館 near Shuanglian I go to for neck and jaw stuff, the guy works the masseter from outside and does traction on the cervical spine, which is where a lot of referred jaw tension actually starts. Around NT$800 for 40 minutes, no booking app, you just walk in. It won't fix a real joint problem but if your issue is muscular clenching it's worth a try.

if its actual tmj stuff and not just cosmetic face massage, go see a dentist who does 咬合板 (occlusal splint) first, the massage places treat the symptom not the joint. dr chen at a clinic off fuxing south road near daan park sorted my clicking in like 3 visits, mostly by adjusting my bite & giving me a night guard. the relief from that lasted way longer than any spa facial i tried

my physio at a small clinic near Liuzhangli MRT did intraoral work on my masseter and pterygoid muscles, basically gloved finger inside the cheek releasing trigger points. weird at first but it fixed the morning headaches within maybe 4 sessions. its not a spa thing at all, its rehab, so book it as a medical visit. 針灸 also helped me, the needles go in the jaw and temple, but the physio did more for the actual tightness.
