Wufenpu: Haggling Horror?

Man, the sheer volume of clothes was overwhelming... I spent hours weaving through the crowded stalls, trying to find that perfect vintage bomber jacket I'd been dreaming about. The haggling was intense! Seriously, I felt like I was in a marketplace scene from a movie. One stall owner nearly doubled the price when she saw me taking photos, the nerve! I managed to get a few decent deals, but mostly it was exhausting. My question is: What are the best strategies for haggling at Wufenpu without getting completely ripped off next time? I'm planning a return trip and need to level up my bargaining game.

Yeah, Wufenpu's a wild ride. It's less about getting a deal and more about negotiating a deal that feels fair. Forget the initial price, it's always inflated. Start low, way low. Like, ridiculously low. Think at least 50% off their asking price, maybe even more if it's something they've had for ages. Don't be afraid to walk away. Seriously, it's their biggest fear. The "oh, wait, I'll give you a better price" magic often works once you pretend you're leaving. Also, going with a friend is great; one can distract while the other negotiates, teamwork makes the dream work. And, importantly, learn some basic Mandarin phrases. Even a simple "太貴了" (tài guì le, too expensive) can go a long way. Good luck on your next trip, you'll get better with practice!

If you have personal experience with a place that helped alleviate jaw tightness or related headaches, please share: - The name of the establishment - The specific treatment you received - Whether you noticed a significant improvement

For muscle-based jaw tightness, the traditional 推拿 places often do better than the fancy facial spas, and they're cheaper. There's a small 國術館 near Shuanglian I go to for neck and jaw stuff, the guy works the masseter from outside and does traction on the cervical spine, which is where a lot of referred jaw tension actually starts. Around NT$800 for 40 minutes, no booking app, you just walk in. It won't fix a real joint problem but if your issue is muscular clenching it's worth a try.

if its actual tmj stuff and not just cosmetic face massage, go see a dentist who does 咬合板 (occlusal splint) first, the massage places treat the symptom not the joint. dr chen at a clinic off fuxing south road near daan park sorted my clicking in like 3 visits, mostly by adjusting my bite & giving me a night guard. the relief from that lasted way longer than any spa facial i tried

my physio at a small clinic near Liuzhangli MRT did intraoral work on my masseter and pterygoid muscles, basically gloved finger inside the cheek releasing trigger points. weird at first but it fixed the morning headaches within maybe 4 sessions. its not a spa thing at all, its rehab, so book it as a medical visit. 針灸 also helped me, the needles go in the jaw and temple, but the physio did more for the actual tightness.
