I've been told the best street food is tucked away in these tiny, almost hidden alleys. My question is: what's the absolute weirdest thing you've ever eaten at Gongguan Night Market? I'm talking truly bizarre, something that would make even a seasoned street food adventurer pause... I'm aiming for authentically weird, not just "spicy". Need to know what to expect!

honestly, the weirdest thing i had there was this drink called "pig's blood cake" that's actually more of a jelly. it's not cake at all, it's congealed pig's blood mixed with sticky rice, cut into cubes and served on a stick with some peanut powder and cilantro. the texture is like a firm jello and the taste is really mild, mostly just savory. it's not super common at gongguan but there's a stall near the xinsheng south road entrance that does it, i think they're only there on weekends tho

there's a stall that does "sweet potato balls" but with a twist - they stuff them with mozzarella cheese and a little salted egg yolk. sounds simple but the combo of sweet, salty, and that stretchy cheese pull is genuinely weird in a good way. it's on the small lane between the mcdonald's and the shoe store, you'll see a line of students after 7pm. the owner's an old guy who's been experimenting with fusion stuff for years, he also does a passionfruit mochi that's surprisingly not bad

Stinky tofu. Hands down. The smell alone is an experience. It's fermented, deep-fried, and somehow both incredibly pungent and surprisingly addictive. I've seen tourists wrinkle their noses and then... come back for seconds. It's a rite of passage, really. You have to try it to believe it. Prepare your olfactory senses.

If you have personal experience with a place that helped alleviate jaw tightness or related headaches, please share: - The name of the establishment - The specific treatment you received - Whether you noticed a significant improvement

For muscle-based jaw tightness, the traditional 推拿 places often do better than the fancy facial spas, and they're cheaper. There's a small 國術館 near Shuanglian I go to for neck and jaw stuff, the guy works the masseter from outside and does traction on the cervical spine, which is where a lot of referred jaw tension actually starts. Around NT$800 for 40 minutes, no booking app, you just walk in. It won't fix a real joint problem but if your issue is muscular clenching it's worth a try.

if its actual tmj stuff and not just cosmetic face massage, go see a dentist who does 咬合板 (occlusal splint) first, the massage places treat the symptom not the joint. dr chen at a clinic off fuxing south road near daan park sorted my clicking in like 3 visits, mostly by adjusting my bite & giving me a night guard. the relief from that lasted way longer than any spa facial i tried

my physio at a small clinic near Liuzhangli MRT did intraoral work on my masseter and pterygoid muscles, basically gloved finger inside the cheek releasing trigger points. weird at first but it fixed the morning headaches within maybe 4 sessions. its not a spa thing at all, its rehab, so book it as a medical visit. 針灸 also helped me, the needles go in the jaw and temple, but the physio did more for the actual tightness.
