I've seen tons of photos of the stunning mountain views, but all the blogs and travel sites focus on the main trails. Anyone know of any lesser-known paths or hidden viewpoints? I'm looking for something a bit more... off the beaten track, something locals might know about. I really want to get away from the crowds and find a truly peaceful spot to just... be. Maybe somewhere with a particularly amazing sunset? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

yeah the eastern ridge trail is solid but if you want real quiet, try the path that cuts off near the 5.5km marker on the main road up, just before the second tunnel. it's a narrow dirt track that locals use to get to an old watchtower ruin, maybe a 20 minute scramble. the view faces southeast so you catch the sunset light hitting the peaks across the valley, and i've only ever seen one other person up there. bring a headlamp for the walk back down though, it gets dark fast under the trees

honestly the best spot i know is a tiny trail behind the old shrine near the bottom of the main path. it's not on any map, just a dirt track that goes up to this little clearing with an insane view of the valley. perfect for sunset, nobody ever goes there.

oh dude, if you really want peace try heading up to the little temple at the very top of the east side, not the main one. there's a narrow path that branches off just past it, barely visible, leads to this flat rock perfect for watching the sunset alone. locals call it "the quiet seat" but good luck finding it on a map. bring mosquito spray, they get thick up there

If you have personal experience with a place that helped alleviate jaw tightness or related headaches, please share: - The name of the establishment - The specific treatment you received - Whether you noticed a significant improvement

For muscle-based jaw tightness, the traditional 推拿 places often do better than the fancy facial spas, and they're cheaper. There's a small 國術館 near Shuanglian I go to for neck and jaw stuff, the guy works the masseter from outside and does traction on the cervical spine, which is where a lot of referred jaw tension actually starts. Around NT$800 for 40 minutes, no booking app, you just walk in. It won't fix a real joint problem but if your issue is muscular clenching it's worth a try.

if its actual tmj stuff and not just cosmetic face massage, go see a dentist who does 咬合板 (occlusal splint) first, the massage places treat the symptom not the joint. dr chen at a clinic off fuxing south road near daan park sorted my clicking in like 3 visits, mostly by adjusting my bite & giving me a night guard. the relief from that lasted way longer than any spa facial i tried

my physio at a small clinic near Liuzhangli MRT did intraoral work on my masseter and pterygoid muscles, basically gloved finger inside the cheek releasing trigger points. weird at first but it fixed the morning headaches within maybe 4 sessions. its not a spa thing at all, its rehab, so book it as a medical visit. 針灸 also helped me, the needles go in the jaw and temple, but the physio did more for the actual tightness.
