Anyone who's hiked there recently, how brutally difficult is the main trail? I'm not looking for some death march, just a realistic assessment of the fitness level needed. I'm worried about those seemingly endless stairs I've seen in pictures... I'd rather not spend the whole day crawling up a mountain. The views from those temple areas are worth it though, right? Hoping for a moderately challenging, not overwhelmingly insane, hike.

fwiw it's not that bad if you pace yourself. the stairs are steep in sections but there are benches scattered along the way, i took two breaks and it was fine. the real killer is the humidity, so bring a towel and maybe a second shirt. the views from the temple are great but my favorite spot is the little pavilion just past it, quieter and you can see the whole xindian river bend

the stairs are relentless but short, think of it as a stairmaster challenge with a view. if you really take it slow with breaks it's maybe 45 minutes to the top, not a whole day thing. the temple area is nice but the real reason people go is that tiny tea house near the end, get the cold guava drink. just go early like 6am before the sun cooks you and you'll be fine

ngl the stairs are real but it's more about pacing than fitness. i'd say if u can handle a few flights of stairs without dying, you'll be fine. the key is starting early before it gets hot, like 7am, and bringing at least a liter of water. the temple views are solid but the real payoff is the little tea shack near the top, grab a cold guava juice there, it hits different after the climb

If you have personal experience with a place that helped alleviate jaw tightness or related headaches, please share: - The name of the establishment - The specific treatment you received - Whether you noticed a significant improvement

For muscle-based jaw tightness, the traditional 推拿 places often do better than the fancy facial spas, and they're cheaper. There's a small 國術館 near Shuanglian I go to for neck and jaw stuff, the guy works the masseter from outside and does traction on the cervical spine, which is where a lot of referred jaw tension actually starts. Around NT$800 for 40 minutes, no booking app, you just walk in. It won't fix a real joint problem but if your issue is muscular clenching it's worth a try.

if its actual tmj stuff and not just cosmetic face massage, go see a dentist who does 咬合板 (occlusal splint) first, the massage places treat the symptom not the joint. dr chen at a clinic off fuxing south road near daan park sorted my clicking in like 3 visits, mostly by adjusting my bite & giving me a night guard. the relief from that lasted way longer than any spa facial i tried

my physio at a small clinic near Liuzhangli MRT did intraoral work on my masseter and pterygoid muscles, basically gloved finger inside the cheek releasing trigger points. weird at first but it fixed the morning headaches within maybe 4 sessions. its not a spa thing at all, its rehab, so book it as a medical visit. 針灸 also helped me, the needles go in the jaw and temple, but the physio did more for the actual tightness.
