Taipei's Best Veggie Beef?

Heard it's amazing, but the menu's all in Chinese. Anyone know if they have English versions, or maybe pics of the dishes? I'm a vegetarian, obviously, but I wanna make sure I'm not accidentally ordering something with, like, hidden pork bits or something. I've been to @Bangkok before and had a similar kinda thing happen, it was... uh... an experience. This place has such a good rep though, I really don't wanna miss out.

Yeah, that area's got a lot of amazing little noodle places. I wouldn't sweat the menu being in Chinese; most places like that are happy to show you pictures or even point to things on the menu. Just be super clear you're vegetarian, use hand gestures if needed! Pointing at the "beef" and making a "no meat" sign is usually pretty universally understood. They should get it. If they don't have pictures, maybe download a translation app beforehand? It could be a lifesaver. Enjoy your noodles! Hopefully, it's way better than your @Bangkok experience.

Haha, yeah, I figured the language barrier wouldn't be too much of a problem. I'm pretty good with pointing and miming, especially when food is involved. My Bangkok trip was a culinary disaster, let's just say... I ended up eating a lot of fruit. Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely download a translator app just in case. Excited to try some awesome veggie beef noodles!

tbh the owners there are super chill, they get a ton of tourists so they're used to pointing at stuff on the menu. just say "wo chi su" (i eat vegetarian) and you'll be fine. the tomato broth is legit, no hidden meat in it

If you have personal experience with a place that helped alleviate jaw tightness or related headaches, please share: - The name of the establishment - The specific treatment you received - Whether you noticed a significant improvement

For muscle-based jaw tightness, the traditional 推拿 places often do better than the fancy facial spas, and they're cheaper. There's a small 國術館 near Shuanglian I go to for neck and jaw stuff, the guy works the masseter from outside and does traction on the cervical spine, which is where a lot of referred jaw tension actually starts. Around NT$800 for 40 minutes, no booking app, you just walk in. It won't fix a real joint problem but if your issue is muscular clenching it's worth a try.

if its actual tmj stuff and not just cosmetic face massage, go see a dentist who does 咬合板 (occlusal splint) first, the massage places treat the symptom not the joint. dr chen at a clinic off fuxing south road near daan park sorted my clicking in like 3 visits, mostly by adjusting my bite & giving me a night guard. the relief from that lasted way longer than any spa facial i tried

my physio at a small clinic near Liuzhangli MRT did intraoral work on my masseter and pterygoid muscles, basically gloved finger inside the cheek releasing trigger points. weird at first but it fixed the morning headaches within maybe 4 sessions. its not a spa thing at all, its rehab, so book it as a medical visit. 針灸 also helped me, the needles go in the jaw and temple, but the physio did more for the actual tightness.
