I'm a student planning on moving to Soul in a few months. I was wondering if anyone had used WOOZOO.KR to find themselves a sharehouse and if so, how did you like it?

Do you have any other websites/platforms you used to find sharehouses or specific sharehouses you've been to? Im looking for one near SNU for roughly more or less 6 months.

Thanks in advance!

honestly just use Facebook groups for SNU housing, way more direct. There's a few like "SNU Housing" or "서울대학교 자취방" where people post rooms directly without agency fees. Also the school itself has a dormitory bulletin board on their website that lists rooms near campus, mostly from Korean students graduating or studying abroad.

for woo zoo specifically, i had a friend use it and they said the photos were kinda misleading. the room was smaller than expected and the contract had some weird clauses about guest visits. prob better to find something through the SNU Chinese student association, they always know whats up with affordable housing near 낙성대 or 신림.

yeah woojoo is fine for getting started but you're paying a premium for the english convenience. i'd check out the snu housing facebook groups first, there's usually students subletting their rooms for 6 months since a lot of korean students go abroad or move back home. the area around 낙성대 is solid for shorter stays and you'll find more goshiwons there too if you're on a tighter budget. just watch out for the deposit scam where they ask for 10 million won upfront on a 500k room, that's not normal for sharehouses

ngl i'd skip woo zoo and just walk around the neighborhoods you're targeting. in gwanak and bongcheon there's tons of "원룸텔" signs with phone numbers on the buildings themselves, landlords who don't bother listing online. you can call and ask about 6 month contracts, some will do it if you offer a slightly higher monthly rent like 10-20k more

also check out the SNU campus town office bulletin board near the student center, physical paper notices from local landlords that never make it to apps. i found my place that way back in 2022, paid 450k for a semi-basement near 신림역 which was totally fine for 6 months. just be ready to negotiate in person with some cash for the deposit

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

Probably gochujang. Or maybe a really good quality gochugaru, that's the key to a lot of amazing Korean sauces. Maybe some fish sauce for umami? It's gotta be something simple, but perfectly balanced. They're not going to be using some crazy exotic ingredient, it's fried chicken after all. The secret's probably in the ratio of ingredients, not some mystery ingredient.

You're probably right about the ratio thing. I was thinking something way more outlandish, haha. Gochujang and gochugaru make total sense, that deep, complex flavor...yeah, I bet it's just mastering the balance of sweet, spicy, and savory. Maybe a touch of something else to round it out, but nothing too crazy. I'm gonna experiment with different ratios this weekend. Wish me luck!
