yeouido actually has a solid option nobody mentioned yet - the gym inside the kbs annex building, right by yeouido station exit 3. month pass is 95,000 won and it's used by broadcast staff so the equipment is kept in good shape. they have a steam room too which is nice after a workout

for yongsan the yongsan-gu public health center gym near ichon station is mad cheap at 70,000 won for a month but you gotta book slots online since it gets busy with locals. they have a proper leg press machine which a lot of smaller gyms skip

if you end up in mapo, the hongdae area has a place called body&mind near hongik university station exit 9. month pass is 85,000 and they do a trial class for free if you ask. it's more of a bootcamp style though, not a free-weight gym

try the Yeouido branch of The Fit Club near the MBC building, it's a smaller spot that does 95,000 won for a month if you tell them you're just visiting. they're used to short-term people cause of all the office workers rotating through, so no contract hassle. just note they close at 10pm on weekends which caught me off guard once.

if you're willing to go to Mapo, there's a boxing gym in Gongdeok called 복싱팩토리 that does a 100,000 won month pass with a small weights area. it's not a full gym but the vibe is way more relaxed than the big chains, and Gongdeok station is a quick shot from Yeouido on the subway. bring your own wraps if you hit the bags.

honestly for a month just get a day pass at a few places instead of locking into one gym. most korean gyms let u buy 10 or 20 visit passes too which works out cheaper if you're not going every single day. the Yeouido branch of Sports World near the KBS building does a 120,000 won monthly deal if you push a bit but they'll try to sell u a contract first

if u want something more chill the Gwanghwamun area has a small gym called 피트니스M that does 80,000 won for a month no questions asked. it's a 10 min bus from Yeouido and way less crowded than the big chains. just bring your own towel and flip flops

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

Probably gochujang. Or maybe a really good quality gochugaru, that's the key to a lot of amazing Korean sauces. Maybe some fish sauce for umami? It's gotta be something simple, but perfectly balanced. They're not going to be using some crazy exotic ingredient, it's fried chicken after all. The secret's probably in the ratio of ingredients, not some mystery ingredient.

You're probably right about the ratio thing. I was thinking something way more outlandish, haha. Gochujang and gochugaru make total sense, that deep, complex flavor...yeah, I bet it's just mastering the balance of sweet, spicy, and savory. Maybe a touch of something else to round it out, but nothing too crazy. I'm gonna experiment with different ratios this weekend. Wish me luck!
