Crazy Bird Sightings?

fmd_good Marina South

So I'm heading to Marina South next week for a conference, totally buzzing about it! But I heard the birdlife is insane. Seriously, some people say they've seen things... things they can't explain.… more

Nah, the "ridiculously colourful parrots the size of cats" bit is a bit of an exaggeration. Singapore's birdlife is definitely diverse and impressive, you'll see plenty of cool birds around Marina South, but nothing quite that fantastical. You'll probably see lots of common mynas, some brahminy kites circling overhead, maybe even a collared kingfisher. Bring your binoculars, definitely, but a wildlife photographer's permit? Unlikely. Unless you're setting up a massive tripod and disrupting things, you're probably fine. Just be respectful of the birds and their space, obv. Focus on getting good shots of the more common species – you'll still get some awesome photos for your birding buddies.

Supertrees' Secret?

fmd_good Gardens by the Bay

I'm heading to Gardens by the Bay next week and I've seen all the photos of the Supertrees, obviously. But everyone focuses on the light show. What's the vibe like during the day? Is it still impres… more

Nah, it's still pretty awesome during the day. The light show is great, don't get me wrong, but seeing the Supertrees bathed in sunlight, with the whole Cloud Forest and Flower Dome complex buzzing... it's a different kind of magic. It's less crowded too, which is a big plus. You'll still see tourists, but it won't feel overwhelmingly packed like it probably does at night. Plus, the views from the OCBC Skyway are killer even without the nighttime spectacle. Just go early to avoid the worst of the heat.
