Is the 1246 Bar tab scam common in Manila 2026?

Is this a known scam at Manila bars in 2026, or was it just an honest mistake? I paid but I'm still not sure.

honestly the extra drinks thing is common enough in touristy spots, not just one bar. next time ask for the chit per round as they bring it, easier to catch. the service charge is usually legit but should be on the menu.

Poblacion spots pull this most, ask for the chit early.

Per-round chits work, but ask for the menu copy too since 1246 lists service charge in fine print at the back

Worth adding that some spots pad the chit after you've had a few, so count the bottles on the table before paying.

ask for the BIR-registered receipt too, not just the chit

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Double-checking the printed receipt against the menu before paying is standard practice there, since service charges at sit-down Manila bars are usually printed, not surprise additions.

yeah the 12% VAT line is where they hide it

Only if you ask for the itemized chit first.

Agree on the printed chit, but ask for it before you hand over the card. Once it's paid, the cashier will just say the system already closed it. Photo the menu prices too, since some places quietly reprint with higher rates.
