Do ppl mostly meet through friends, apps, or nights out? Also heard Jameron Electronics is a bar, which is confusing, is that a real spot or a joke name?

Jameron Electronics is a joke name, not a bar; apps like Bumble tend to work better than nights out in BGC if you're new.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

yeah apps do most of the work, but friend set-ups still carry a lot here, especially through church or office barkadas

arrow_drop_up 19 arrow_drop_down

Office barkadas matter more than church ones for transplants, since that's where most new hires actually build a social circle first.

Tinder still edges it out in Makati

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Agree, but dates from apps usually move to a coffee shop in Makati first

BGC nights are all couples groups tbh

Manila cafe prices 2026: is 280 pesos for a shake normal?

That seems steep for a drink, is that a normal price at cafes there in 2026 or am I looking at a tourist markup?
arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Great Shakes is a bit pricey for Manila, but 280 for a large one is steep; a normal cafe shake runs 120 to 180.

arrow_drop_up 17 arrow_drop_down

yep, 280 is tourist-zone pricing; hit a carinderia or a stall in a mall food court and you'll pay closer to 90.

arrow_drop_up 11 arrow_drop_down

carinderias near universities like UST or UP Diliman are where you'd see 90, but a food court stall in a mall is closer to 120 to 150 these days. 90 at a mall is pretty optimistic now.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Agree on the range, though mall branches in Makati like Greenbelt tack on another 50 or so versus a standalone spot.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

fair, though the Ayala malls food courts are cheaper than the standalone Greenbelt spots, so location inside the mall matters too.

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

120 to 180 sounds right for a basic fruit shake, but add pearls or avocado and you're pushing 220 even outside the business districts. Great Shakes just prices like a chain, so the 280 is less markup and more their menu.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

honestly the chain thing tracks, but 280 still feels like BGC rent baked into teh cup rather than just pearls

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

tbh 120 to 180 sounds low for 2026
