only been once but the tapsilog at like 120 pesos is the move, skip the fancy coffee stuff tbh

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

yeah skip teh fancy coffee is right, the brewed stuff is fine but overpriced. get the longganisa silog instead if u want the better plate. tapsilog's still solid at that price tho

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Fair warning the longganisa is the sweet Lucban kind, so if u want savory get the tocino instead.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

120 is a decent price for Manila now, tapsilog elsewhere runs 150+. fwiw i'd still add an egg on top if they let u, the default one barely covers the rice.

arrow_drop_up 20 arrow_drop_down

Extra egg is worth it every time.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Agreed on the extra egg, though I'd ask for it fried hard since a runny one just soaks the rice.

Second egg, garlic rice upgrade for 20.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Tapsilog holds up, but ask for the garlic rice to be freshly scooped from the bottom of the pot where it's crispier.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

The silog plates are solid but the real draw is the longganisa, get that instead of whatever pastry is on display.

Do they take cards or is it cash only? Also curious if a foreign Visa works at most eateries there or if I should just pull pesos from an ATM.

Visa works at Robinsons Place food stalls, not sari-sari eateries.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Cash. BPI ATM on Mabini, lower fees than airport.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Carry small bills since eateries rarely break a 1000 peso note, and BDO branches in Ermita exchange foreign currency faster than most banks.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Good call on the small bills, though I'd add that eateries like this often round to the nearest 20 so keep coins handy too.
