Paying by card at Manila cafes in 2026?

GCash needs a PH number, card mostly works

tbh i'd still carry small bills for the smaller spots, chang is fine but sari-sari type places and some karinderyas are cash only

yeah and even at Chang the card reader sometimes flakes out so keep a few hundred pesos on you just in case

Moving to Manila 2026: how does dating actually work?

tbh apps do most of the heavy lifting in metro Manila, but it's a numbers game and you'll wade through a lot of matches that never turn into a meetup. Bumble and Tinder are the big two; Coffee Meets Bagel has a smaller, slightly more serious crowd. First dates usually happen in malls, specifically around BGC or Makati, since everyone's already there for work. Group-of-friends setups still exist but are slower to develop when you're new.

BGC's High Street, Sunday afternoons.

fwiw the "date" label carries weight early on, so people often hang out in groups first before calling it anything. Grab rides home after a night out are basically teh norm, and splitting the bill is common unless someone insists.
