Working remotely from Manila in 2026: internet and hours

How reliable is the internet for video calls, and are there coworking spots or cafes where people actually settle in for a full workday? I'm also curious how long most remote workers tend to stay in the city and whether the time zone overlap with Europe is manageable.

Converge in Pasig, fiber's solid there.

Agree on fiber being the reliable part, but the building matters more than the provider. Older condos in Makati and Ermita often cap you at 50 Mbps or have no line at all, so ask the landlord for a speed test before signing.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

fiber in bgc and ortigas is fine too, the catch is condo buildings that only allow one telco. ask the landlord which providers are wired in before u commit, some won't let u switch at all

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Worth also checking if the building's exclusivity deal is expiring soon, since that changes your options mid-lease.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Also check if the building has a Globe or PLDT exclusivity contract, since that's usually why you can't switch.

Pasig's fine but it depends on the barangay, some pockets near the river still drop during storms. I'd ask your landlord for actual speed tests at night, that's when it matters for calls with Europe.

just get a pocket wifi backup & a local sim, tbh. the 7 hour gap is rough, most ppl i know tap out after a year or two

Is Manila safe to walk at night in 2026?

Which s… I'm visiting in 2026 and staying near Fe-Bulous Canteen, and I'm trying to work out whether it's fine to walk back to my hotel after dinner around 10pm or if I should just grab a Grab instead. Which streets around there are okay late and which ones should I avoid?
arrow_drop_up 6 arrow_drop_down

I've walked around there after dinner and it felt fine on the main lit streets, but I'd still grab a Grab past 10pm. Side streets off the main road get quiet and poorly lit fast, so stick to the busy ones if you do walk.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Yeah agreed, though I'd add that even the main roads thin out fast after 11 so don't count on crowds that late.

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

Fair, though the stretch by Remedios circle stays lit and busy later than most side streets round there.
