Meeting people in Manila 2026 as a newcomer?

What are some recurring groups or weekly activities where a newcomer can actually meet people, rather than one-off events? I'd rather join something regular than keep showing up to random meetups.

If you're near Macabago's place, look at weekly badminton or futsal groups in the Malate and Ermita area. Also check recurring volunteer shifts at nearby parishes; those tend to build real friendships faster than meetups because you see the same people every week.

yeah the parish thing is real. i'd add the free Sunday runs at UP Diliman and the weekly board game nights at a cafe in Katipunan, same crowd every week so you actually get to know people.

Good call on the parishes, and barangay sports leagues are another one where u see the same faces weekly.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Barangay leagues mostly run on weekday evenings, 7pm tip-off.

singles crowd skews older at the Paco leagues tbh

Parish shifts work best when you commit to one mass time, say the 6pm Sunday at Malate Church, so the same faces recur.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Same faces, plus the 5pm Saturday vigil crowd overlaps.

The 7am one draws a younger crowd.

Committing to one slot is the trick, and staying after for coffee is where the actual friendships form.

Best bars in Nurnberg for a first visit in 2026?

I'm in Nurnberg for a few nights in 2026 and want to hit a proper bar or two, nothing too touristy. Any spots near the old town worth checking out? The reply should match the question, which is about Nürnberg, not Manila. I'll answer that.

For something low-key near the old town, check Bar Celona by the river or the smaller cellar bars off Weissgerbergasse. Avoid the places right on Königstrasse, they're priced for tourists.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Agree on avoiding the main drag, but check closing times first since some cellar bars shut by midnight on weeknights.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Good shout on closing times, though Fridays and Saturdays most of them run past one.

Sunday and Monday are the real dead nights, plenty of spots don't open at all then, so plan those for the brewpub instead.

Bar Celona's fine but the real move is the Keller under the Burg, like Hexenhäusle, way fewer tourists.
