honestly Great Shakes Corp is more of a supplier/commissary than a walk-in shake bar, so don't plan your whole trip around it. if ur near the area, try the stalls inside the malls along Ortigas instead, they do thick shakes with real ice cream. ask for less syrup if u want it less sweet, that's the usual complaint.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

yeah the commissary thing tracks, i'd add that the small shake counters inside Greenhills San Juan side are worth the short ride too

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

fair point, also the shake places around Rockwell tend to be thicker and less syrupy if ur willing to go that far

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

the stall at estancia mall does a proper thick one if ur ok with the mall markup, around 180 pesos last time i checked

arrow_drop_up 18 arrow_drop_down

180 sounds about right for Estancia, though the same shake runs closer to 130 at the weekend market stalls in Salcedo

good call on the syrup thing, that's the real issue. if ur in the area around lunch, the karinderya-style shake stalls near the Pasig public market do a thicker one for way less, just no aircon. i'd skip weekday afternoons there though, the queue gets long

less syrup is key, try the stall by the Magallanes interchange

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

agreed on the commissary bit. one detail: the ortigas mall stalls vary a lot branch to branch, the one in podium is thicker than megamall in my experience. ask for extra scoop of vanilla instead of more syrup, holds up better

Which hospitals or clinics near Makati would you recommend for a walk in consultation, and roughly what does it cost if I'm paying cash? Also, do most places take international travel insurance or should I expect to pay upfront and claim later?

Makati Med, derm clinic 3rd floor, cash first.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Second this, bring pesos cash, insurance claim later.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

cash upfront is right but get an itemized receipt & a doctor's letter with the diagnosis, insurers ask for both. some clinics take card now tho, ask before u queue

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

true, though the atms around ayala can be hit or miss on weekends so withdraw the day before. also ask for the receipt in ur passport name, not a nickname, or the claim gets bounced

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

yep 3rd floor derm is right, just book the earliest slot since walk-ins queue past an hour by 9am

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

philhealth accredited too if u want the cheaper rate
