Chang Coffee & Tea near Manila: what should I order?

Stopping by Chang Coffee & Tea on my first trip to Manila in 2026, what do people usually get there? Any drink worth skipping the usual latte for? Stopping by Chang Coffee & Tea on my first trip to Manila in 2026, what do people usually get there? Any drink worth skipping the usual latte for?

Their tsokolate batirol is thick and bittersweet, way better than the sweet syrupy versions tourists usually get.

the batirol stick matters more than the cup

Good call on the batirol being less sweet. Worth asking if they whisk it fresh to order, since the texture falls flat when it's been sitting. A friend swears the tablea they use is from a small maker, so it's worth a look.

Skip it if you want cold, since batirol is really a hot drink and iced versions just taste thin.

I only passed through Manila once so take this loosely, but the barako beans are the thing to seek out. Chang does a barako americano that's earthy and a bit smoky, closer to a strong pour over than a latte. If you want something cold, the salted cream version is what most people around me were holding. Skip anything with flavored syrup, it buries the local roast.

Agree on skipping the syrups. One thing though: barako is Batangas grown, so ask which beans they're pulling that week, sometimes it's a blend. The hot barako americano is the safer bet over ice.

honestly the salted cream one is what I'd get too. ask if they brew it hot then chill it, some places just pour hot over ice and it gets watery fast.

salted cream over ice, rainy season only

Last time I went, the sisig and lechon stalls were solid, meals ran around 150 to 250 pesos, cash only.

arrow_drop_up 23 arrow_drop_down

Second this, but the lechon sells out by early afternoon.

Agree on cash only, but bring small bills since the stalls rarely break anything bigger than a 500.

The grilled pusit stall near the back entrance is worth the extra 50 pesos if you catch it before noon.
