She said the walls held secrets, whispered on the wind, of students' lives and loves, and the ghosts of teachers past. I'm going there next week to check it out - any idea what the best time to see any, uh... activity is? I'm hoping to catch some interesting stories. Maybe even find a particularly juicy guava.

The real trick is getting there during one of the community events they sometimes hold on Saturday mornings, like the occasional book fair or the old folk music thing the neighborhood association puts on. That's when you'll find abuelas from the surrounding colonias sitting on the low wall by the entrance, fanning themselves and trading stories that go back decades. The guava tree is mostly ornamental now, but if you chat up Doña Leticia at the panaderia across the street on Avenida Yaxchilan, she might still remember your abuela's family and point you to a neighbor's yard with a thriving one.

fwiw i'd go around dusk, like 5:30-6pm when the light's going gold and the street vendors are packing up. the courtyard gets this weird quiet right after the last volleyball game ends and before the streetlights flicker on. i've heard the old night guard, miguel, sometimes leaves the side gate on calle palenque unlocked around then if he's in a good mood. just don't expect actual guavas, that tree's been struggling since the hotel construction started two blocks over

Honestly, the guavas are probably long gone given how built up that area is now, but the courtyard itself still has that old-school vibe. If you want to feel the history, go on a weekday around 2pm when school lets out and the neighborhood kids are cutting through. You'll hear more gossip from the señoras sitting on the benches near the corner of Avenida Bonampak than any ghost could tell you.

Forget about it. He keeps mentioning this one teacher, Señora Rodriguez, who's legendary for her pop quizzes. Seriously, he's convinced she can predict the future. So my question is: what's the craziest rumour you've heard about Señora Rodriguez and her pop quizzes at Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera? Is she actually psychic...?

my tia subbed there for a semester & said the notebook thing is real but its not about predicting anything. she just recycles the same 5 questions every cycle so by week 3 everyone whos been paying attention already knows whats coming. the actual chaos is the morning shift, kids hopping the fence by the cancha to grab tortas before the 7am bell.

honestly the psychic thing is mostly just kids being dramatic. my neighbor's kid went there and swore she keeps a little notebook with every class's weak spots, like she knows exactly who didnt read the chapter. tbh thats less ESP and more her just paying attention for 20 years. also the lunch chaos is real, that whole stretch near Av. Chac Mool gets nuts around 2pm when everyone spills out.

I don't know about psychic but a friend swears she once gave a quiz on a chapter nobody had been assigned yet.
