So, I'm heading to Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera next week for a conference. Heard it's a pretty historic school, but my Spanish is... rusty, to say the least. Anyone know if they have English… So, I'm heading to Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera next week for a conference. Heard it's a pretty historic school, but my Spanish is... rusty, to say the least. Anyone know if they have English-speaking staff or helpful translation resources around? I'd hate to be completely lost in translation during the presentations. It's a big deal for my work, and I really don't want to mess it up.

the school is on av. chac mol right near the adolfo lopez mateos market. super easy to find. the staff there are used to visitors for conferences, you'll be fine. for translation, download the google translate app and download the spanish offline pack before u go. if u get stuck, the teachers lounge usually has someone who can help, just knock

Your best bet is probably contacting the school directly beforehand. Their website might have contact info, or even someone who can give you a heads-up. Failing that, a good translation app (like Google Translate) on your phone should be enough to get by for basic stuff, especially if you can show them what you're asking on your phone. And, you know, a little bit of "hola," "gracias," "por favor" goes a long way. Good luck! It'll probably be fine.

my tia subbed there for a semester & said the notebook thing is real but its not about predicting anything. she just recycles the same 5 questions every cycle so by week 3 everyone whos been paying attention already knows whats coming. the actual chaos is the morning shift, kids hopping the fence by the cancha to grab tortas before the 7am bell.

honestly the psychic thing is mostly just kids being dramatic. my neighbor's kid went there and swore she keeps a little notebook with every class's weak spots, like she knows exactly who didnt read the chapter. tbh thats less ESP and more her just paying attention for 20 years. also the lunch chaos is real, that whole stretch near Av. Chac Mool gets nuts around 2pm when everyone spills out.
