I went to Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera back in '08. It was... intense. So much yelling, so many uniforms. Seriously, the uniforms were a nightmare, always getting snagged on things. Seriously, the uniforms were a nightmare, always getting snagged on things. Anyway, I remember this one teacher, Señora Rodriguez, she taught history. She was terrifying but also somehow... inspiring? Anyone else remember her crazy stories about the Mayan ruins? I'm trying to track down some old classmates, do you think there's like, a Facebook group or something for alumni from that school?

oh man, Señora Rodriguez. she had that thing where she'd stare at you for like ten seconds before answering a question. terrifying but yeah, she knew her stuff. i was there a bit earlier, around '05. uniforms were basically stiff cardboard with sleeves. if you're trying to find people, try the "Exalumnos Cancun" group on facebook, it's got a mix of schools but i've seen a few juan de la barrera posts on there. also, check if there's a whatsapp chain floating around, that's how i found some of my old class

i was there in '09, a year after you. the uniforms were basically canvas, i swear mine had a permanent smell of school cafeteria. but yeah, señora rodriguez, she'd go off on tangents about the tulum murals and you'd forget to be scared. for finding people, there's a whatsapp group called "Juan de la Barrera 2005-2010" that floats around, ask on the "Cancun Recuerdos" facebook page someone there might have the link. also, the school's own facebook page sometimes shares alumni stuff, worth a scroll.

The uniforms were genuinely the worst. I remember the polyester fabric would just collect static and cling to everything. I was there in 2010, a couple years after you. I don't know about a Facebook group specifically, but there is a "Cancun Secundarias" page on Facebook where people from different schools post looking for old classmates. You might have better luck posting your name and graduation year there.

my tia subbed there for a semester & said the notebook thing is real but its not about predicting anything. she just recycles the same 5 questions every cycle so by week 3 everyone whos been paying attention already knows whats coming. the actual chaos is the morning shift, kids hopping the fence by the cancha to grab tortas before the 7am bell.

honestly the psychic thing is mostly just kids being dramatic. my neighbor's kid went there and swore she keeps a little notebook with every class's weak spots, like she knows exactly who didnt read the chapter. tbh thats less ESP and more her just paying attention for 20 years. also the lunch chaos is real, that whole stretch near Av. Chac Mool gets nuts around 2pm when everyone spills out.
