I have such hazy memories of that place

The cafeteria was a lawless frontier. That soda fountain worked exactly once, during a health inspection in 2009, and they celebrated by charging 15 pesos for a single cup. The real move was the lady who sold tortas de cochinita from a cooler by the basketball court, she was there every day and her salsa verde could make you cry. If you're back in the neighborhood, walk down Avenida Chac Mool, that corner vendor might still be around.

Oh man, Secundaria Juan de la Barrera! That takes me back. The cafeteria... let's just say "adventure" is a polite way of putting it. I remember the mystery meat dishes being... highly memorable. And the soda fountain? Ha! More like a soda drip. It was perpetually broken, or at least that's how it felt. We mostly survived on the surprisingly decent empanadas from the street vendor outside the gates. Those were way better than anything inside. You'll probably find things are a little...different now, but the chaotic energy of that place? That's probably still the same. Enjoy your trip back!

lol the soda fountain is basically a cancun urban legend at this point. i swear my tia worked there in 2010 and said it was just a glorified water cooler with a busted carbonation tank. the real hidden gem was the tortas de jamon from the cart on calle 10, that guy's been there since like 2003 and his salsa roja is still the same recipe. your exchange program probably had you eating those plastic-wrapped sandwiches while the locals were feasting on real food from the street

my tia subbed there for a semester & said the notebook thing is real but its not about predicting anything. she just recycles the same 5 questions every cycle so by week 3 everyone whos been paying attention already knows whats coming. the actual chaos is the morning shift, kids hopping the fence by the cancha to grab tortas before the 7am bell.

honestly the psychic thing is mostly just kids being dramatic. my neighbor's kid went there and swore she keeps a little notebook with every class's weak spots, like she knows exactly who didnt read the chapter. tbh thats less ESP and more her just paying attention for 20 years. also the lunch chaos is real, that whole stretch near Av. Chac Mool gets nuts around 2pm when everyone spills out.
