So, I'm heading to @Cancun next month and I'm stoked to catch a game at the Estadio Olímpico Andrés Quintana Roo. I've heard it's a crazy atmosphere, but the online reviews are kinda vague about the s… So, I'm heading to @Cancun next month and I'm stoked to catch a game at the Estadio Olímpico Andrés Quintana Roo. I've heard it's a crazy atmosphere, but the online reviews are kinda vague about the sound system. Is it good enough to actually hear the announcers and the crowd roar over the general stadium buzz? I'm worried about missing crucial plays because I can't hear anything! My friend went a few years ago and said it was a bit muffled... hoping things have improved. Any insights from someone who's recently been there?

yeah the sound system is still pretty basic, nothing fancy. if you're in the lower sections near the south end by the tunnel, the echo from the concourse makes everything sound like a garbled mess. i'd recommend grabbing a seat in the east side bleachers, like around section 125-127, the speakers are pointed that way and you catch the announcer's calls better. also, the crowd roar is way more intense over there since it's closer to the away fans section, so you won't miss that energy even if the PA is a bit fuzzy

fwiw the sound's actually pretty decent if you're in the right spot, I've been a few times this year and the east side upper deck around section 201-205 is where it's at. the PA comes through clear and you can hear the chants and the drum section really well, but the west side lower bowl is a total echo chamber where everything sounds like it's underwater. just avoid sitting too close to the tunnel entrance on the south end, that's where the concourse noise bleeds in and drowns out everything else

I've been to about a dozen games there over the last year and a half, and the sound system hasn't changed much since your friend's visit. The real issue isn't the speakers themselves, it's the concrete bowl that bounces everything around. If you're in the shade on the west side, the echo is worse because the sun heats the opposite wall and creates weird air pockets that muffle the PA. Sit on the east side in the sun if you can handle it, the sound travels cleaner there and you'll catch the announcer's calls for substitutions and stoppage time.

my tia subbed there for a semester & said the notebook thing is real but its not about predicting anything. she just recycles the same 5 questions every cycle so by week 3 everyone whos been paying attention already knows whats coming. the actual chaos is the morning shift, kids hopping the fence by the cancha to grab tortas before the 7am bell.

honestly the psychic thing is mostly just kids being dramatic. my neighbor's kid went there and swore she keeps a little notebook with every class's weak spots, like she knows exactly who didnt read the chapter. tbh thats less ESP and more her just paying attention for 20 years. also the lunch chaos is real, that whole stretch near Av. Chac Mool gets nuts around 2pm when everyone spills out.
