Yeah, the KL Bird Park is awesome! Those hornbills are something else. Midday sun is brutal though, you're right. Best bet is to go early morning or late afternoon, the heat is much more manageable then. Seriously, the difference is night and day. If you're stuck going midday, find the areas with the most dense foliage; that'll give you the best shade. Also, a good wide-brimmed hat is essential, you learned that the hard way! And maybe pack a small hand fan or a portable misting spray bottle, those can really help too.
Totally agree! Those hornbills were incredible, I almost forgot my camera in my amazement. Midday heat was a killer though, I should of listened to my wife and brought that stupid hat she kept nagging me about. good guide, but the real move for budget eating is the food court at mid valley basement, lot 10 hutong is tourist pricing now. you can get a proper claypot chicken rice for RM6 there and it's legit. also, for the KLCC park, go at 7pm when they do the fountain light show, it's free and way better than paying for the towers view
