Finding Eki stamps?

I know this might sound like cheating but this is not for me. My sister went to Japan and the only thing she really wanted was the collect eki stamps from the few train stations she would pass through. By some unfortunate circumstances, she unfortunately passed through her trip without being able to collect any as her travel companion rushed her and didn't really care about them. I know it won't be the same at all, but I would really like to try and get her the stamps to put in her little stamp book that she bought just for this trip. She doesn't get to travel much and this was sort of a trip of a life time. I don't know that I will ever get to Japan myself to get them for her (i pass through Okinawa a lot for work but it's usually only for a few hours at a time), and collecting them there in her stead, even if I could, i think would make her sadder. I completely understand if that's not possible to buy the rubber stamps, but I'd like to at least find pictures of the stations for Kyoto and Osaka so i can try and draw them? Thank you for the advice, and please be kind if i am making a misstep, i just hate to see her so sad and don't know what to do to help.

fwiw you can actually buy blank eki stamp cards at some station kiosks in Tokyo but for the actual stamps themselves, theyre usually not for sale. what you could do is check the JR West website for the station stamp locations in Kyoto and Osaka, they list where each one is placed. also theres a guy on instagram called ekistamp_collector who posts really clear shots of all the stamps from like every station in Kansai, might be easier to trace from there than random google images

The ekistamp_collector account on insta is your best bet for clean reference shots tbh. If you're drawing them yourself, theres a few things to know - the Kyoto station stamp is usually the big torii gate at Fushimi Inari with a train going past, and Osaka station has Osaka Castle with the ferris wheel in the background. The stamps at the main JR stations in both cities haven't changed design in like 15 years so any halfway decent photo will be accurate.

Also if you're ever in Okinawa for a few hours, Naha station has a really nice eki stamp with shisa dogs on it, and the airport monorail station stamp has a pineapple hidden in the design. Might be easier to grab that one for her since you're already there.

honestly that's really sweet. maybe try searching flickr or twitter for pics of the specific station stamps, people post them all the time

Best donuts near Glaze in Tokyo 2026?

if u go late afternoon they discount the day-olds, same dough just cheaper, ask at the counter

good shout on the day-olds, they're usually in a basket by the register after 4 or so, not advertised. just don't expect any of the matcha left by then, that stuff clears out way earlier

Ask for the day-olds straight from the register staff, since the basket only appears once the case empties out.

Glaze is solid but the plain glazed and the matcha are the ones worth queuing for, the fancy seasonal ones tend to be too sweet. Weekends after 11am the line at the Shibuya branch can hit 40 minutes, so go on a weekday morning or hit the Jiyugaoka one instead.

Yeah, matcha first for sure. Skip the seasonal ones.

The matcha call is right, but I'd put the kuromitsu kinako above the plain glazed, it's less cloying. Ebisu is the branch I'd actually go to, quieter than the other two and the staff don't rush you.

Honestly the weekday morning tip is teh real one, weekends there are brutal. I'd add that u can check their insta before going, some days they sell out early.

Ebisu branch, go before 9 on a weekday

Image veronica local ·

jiyugaoka is the better call anyway, the shop there is tiny but the queue moves way faster than shibuya. just dont roll in after noon on a sat, they sell out of matcha by then

Nakameguro branch, opens 9.
