[Art] Any Yayoi Kusama exhibition?
Yeah the Kusama Museum in Shinjuku is the main one, but a lot of people don't know the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum has had her installations pop up before, so it's worth keeping an eye on their schedule. Also the POLA Museum of Art out in Hakone has shown her work in the past, and the ride out there is pretty scenic.
if you can snag a ticket to the Yayoi Kusama Museum in Shinjuku that's the obvious pick, but tbh the National Art Center in Roppongi also rotates her work into their permanent collection sometimes, worth checking their schedule. also the Matsumoto City Museum of Art up in Nagano has a whole dedicated Kusama room since she's from there, it's a bit of a trip but way less crowded than Tokyo spots, train's like 2.5 hours and the garden outside has a giant pumpkin sculpture.
you're in luck, there's a permanent Kusama exhibition at the Mori Art Museum in Roppongi but it's not always her main stuff. the real spot is the Yayoi Kusama Museum in Shinjuku, you need to book tickets online in advance they sell out fast. it's a small building but packed with her infinity rooms and polka dot paintings, 25 bucks for adults. if you can't get in, the lobby of the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery sometimes has a few of her pieces on display too.
