I am thinking of studying there for four years and I have this concern that the quality of the education at TUJ is not sufficient. If there is anyone who have studied or is currently studying at TUJ (especially communication or CS majors), your feedbacks will be highly appreciated.

yeah i went there for a bit before transferring out. the CS program is decent but the facilities are kinda cramped, like the labs are in a basement with no windows. main thing that bugged me was the lack of a proper library or student lounge, you end up studying in cafes around azabu juban which gets expensive. if you're set on tokyo and need an english degree it works, but if you care about campus life or research resources look elsewhere

ngl the CS program at TUJ is fine but the real value is location. you're literally in central Tokyo so internships at Rakuten or LINE are way easier to land than if you were at some campus in the sticks. the tradeoff is you don't get dorms or sports teams or any of that, it's basically a commuter school vibe in a tower near Kamiyacho station. just make sure you're actually okay with living in Tokyo long-term cause the city doesn't really let you focus on studying

fwiw i know a couple comms professors there and they're legit, like one used to work at NHK and another writes for the Japan Times. the curriculum is pretty practical, you'll do a lot of real projects rather than just theory. the downside is the student body is super transient, lots of people just there for a semester or two, so making friends that stick around for four years can be hit or miss. if you're okay with that tradeoff and want an american degree without leaving tokyo, it's a solid choice

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
