Supermarkets for Bento?

New student living near Numabukuro station. Anyone know any good supermarkets for affordable bentos around this station? Looking for more options besides conbini food. Thank you. the life is ur best bet for bentos tbh, but if u want something different check out the ok supermarket near ariake. it's a bit of a walk but they do these massive karaage bentos for like 380 yen and theyre way better than anything at the conbini. also the fruit section has cheap bananas if u need a snack

if u go toward nakano方向 there's a my basket that's pretty solid for bentos. it's like a 10 min walk but they have a lot of grab & go stuff that feels less sad than convenience store food. also the daiei near araiyakushi-mae has a small food court area but their bento section is decent and they do some hot soba sets for like 300 yen that are way better than the cold stuff at 7-11

if you walk toward nakano-sakaue theres a hanamasa about 10 mins from numabukuro, not a supermarket exactly but they have big packs of premade stuff like fried chicken and onigiri that are way cheaper than conbini. their bento selection is smaller but the quality is better imo. also they sell frozen gyoza and karaage in bulk which is great for meal prep if u have a microwave

Tokyo rent 2026: what are you actually paying?

Is a decent 1LDK still around 120,000 yen in places like Setagaya or Nakano, or has it crept closer to 150,000? And which areas near good bakeries like Levain are still worth the commute?

I pay 128,000 for a 1LDK in Nakano, five minutes from the station, and I moved in last spring. Setagaya has crept up more because of the redevelopment around Futako-Tamagawa. For Levain bread, I'd look at Sasazuka or Daitabashi, one stop from Shinjuku, quieter, and you can walk to the bakery on weekends.

Worth checking the Nanpeidai side too, quiet but close.

Sangenjaya, 138,000 for a 1LDK.

138k tracks for that side of town, though the walk to Komazawa-dori is what really keeps those units priced where they are.
