Kid's Passport Renewal: US Birth Certificate, Koseki Tohon, or BOTH?

Thanks!

We did both just to be safe and the consular officer at the embassy only looked at the koseki tohon. The US birth certificate stayed in our folder the whole time. If you're pressed for time or money, I'd just bring the koseki tohon and a copy of it for their records. The embassy on the Azabudai side has a kids' play corner in the waiting area, which helps if you have a squirmy toddler.

honestly you only need the koseki tohon. the embassy's website says bring everything but in practice they just want to see the Japanese family register since that's how they verify the parent-child relationship for dual citizens. we brought both and the bc never left my bag. one thing nobody mentions - make sure the parent listed on the koseki is the same one showing up at the appointment. if you're the mom and your name's on it but your husband takes the kid, they might ask questions. also the konbini copies work fine for the photocopy they keep, no need to go to city hall for that

just bring the koseki tohon, they didnt even ask for the bc when we went last year. make sure the copy is recent tho, like within 6 months or they might give u a hard time

Pizza in Tokyo 2026: real price at Pizza Vita?

When I look at the menu as a tourist, am I being quoted a higher price than locals pay? What's the actual going rate for a margherita there in 2026?

Same menu for everyone, around 1,500 yen.

yeah pretty much, maybe a bit more after tax. sit down spots nearby charge extra so check before u order

Margherita's closer to 1,300 before tax at the counter.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

That counter price is takeaway only; eating it there adds the 10% tax plus a 50 yen box if you don't finish it.

Roughly right, though 1,500 is the eat-in price with tax. Takeaway at the counter runs about 1,200 and they don't add a coperto like the sit-down places in Ebisu do.

The takeaway box costs 50 yen extra at Pizza Vita, which still undercuts the sit-down places around Ebisu Station by a few hundred.

Fair, no tourist markup at all. Only thing I'd add is the lunch set, salad plus a drink for a couple hundred more, which is what most of us actually order on a weekday. Dinner it's just the pie.

No tourist markup, just the 10% tax at the register.
