Hello, I am looking for a wine shop in Tokyo that sells Far Niente! Anyone has an idea? Or is there a good app that I can use to browse stocks amongst liquor/wine shops in Tokyo?

I used to drink Far Niente time by time back in US and I've been wanting to drink one.

Thanks!

yeah Far Niente's not super common here but it does pop up. I've seen it at the Yamaya in Hiroo before, they have a decent Napa selection tucked in the back corner. no app is gonna save u for this though, the best bet is just calling the bigger liquor stores directly - try the Liquor Mountain in Azabujuban or the one near Roppongi crossing, they sometimes stock allocated stuff.

if u wanna search online, Rakuten is honestly better than any app for this. just search in katakana if u can (ファー・ニエンテ) and filter by stores in Tokyo. the importers route the other person mentioned is solid too but that's more for wholesale, for a single bottle the retail shops are easier

Far Niente is a Napa Cabernet, right? You might have better luck checking the importers directly rather than individual shop stock lists. JALUX or Toko Trading bring in a lot of high-end California wines, and they can tell you which restaurants or retailers in Tokyo currently have an order. For browsing on the fly, I've never found a single good app for wine stock here, but Rakuten's marketplace is actually decent for searching by bottle name and filtering to "liquor" sellers based in Tokyo. I'd skip the smaller natural wine bars in Daikanyama for this one and focus on places like Aeon Liquor in Ginza Six or the basement floor at Isetan Shinjuku, their California section is usually robust.

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
