Formal dress stores??

My friend and I are currently looking for long formal dresses / prom dresses in Tokyo, does anyone know any good places around shibuya, harajuku, shinjuku etc which has these types of stores? since you're hitting the main spots already, try lumine est in shinjuku - the basement floor has a few boutiques that do formal rentals and sales, prices are reasonable for the quality. also there's a place called "la maison de la robe" in aoyama, bit of a walk from omotesando station, they specialize in long dresses and have a small but solid selection under 15k yen. if you're on a tight budget, book off in shinjuku sometimes has formal dresses in the vintage section, just gotta dig through racks

honestly for prom style you might have better luck hitting up the rental shops in harajuku, there's a few near takeshita street that have really nice stuff for way cheaper than buying. i've rented from bridal and formal rental a couple times and it was like 8000 yen for a whole weekend. also check out don quijote in shibuya, they have a surprisingly decent formal section on the 4th floor mixed in with the weird stuff

if you're looking for something more vintage-inspired or unique, head to shimokitazawa instead of the main hubs. there's a shop called hickory that carries long dresses, some are secondhand but they're curated and not the usual fast-fashion stuff. prices are around 4000-8000 yen and you'll stand out more than the donki options

also, the brand axes femme in lumine est has formal-ish dresses that work for prom, they're more girly and floral than sleek gowns but the fabric is decent for the price. just don't expect anything super structured unless you're willing to pay 15000+ at a department store like isetan

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
