Any artists in Tokyo available for gallery collaborations?

Would love to get together with artists in Tokyo for gallery exhibits and collaborative works. Would love to get together with artists in Tokyo for gallery exhibits and collaborative works.

If you're looking for gallery collabs, the area around Asakusa has a few artist-run spaces that fly under the radar. There's a small gallery called Tsubaki that does themed group shows every couple months and the owner is pretty open to letting artists curate their own sections. The rent for a weekend slot runs about 15,000 yen and they don't take a commission on sales, which is rare for that neighborhood.

imo the shimokitazawa scene is worth a look for collabs, way more DIY than the galleries near omotesando. there's a spot called gallery 2d that does these rotating residency slots where u can use the space for a month and invite other artists in, rent's like 30k yen a month if u split it. also worth wandering down shotengai alley near the station, there's a few storefronts that double as impromptu exhibit spaces on weekends

i'd actually look into the setagaya area, not as hyped as shimokita or nakameguro but there's a solid network of small galleries tucked into the residential streets near sangenjaya station. there's a place called gallery kissa that runs on a membership model where you can book the space for a few days at a time for like 5000 yen a day, and they're pretty loose about collab setups as long as you're not damaging the tatami. also the setagaya art museum has a residency program that's less competitive than the bigger ones, they give you a small studio for like 3 months and you can bring in guest artists to work with you

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
